About

Alex 4sI’m Alex Beckham, a voice actor and voiceover artist in Austin, Texas, with experience in video games, animation, audiobooks and radio plays.

The roots of my career as a voice actor and voiceover artist go all the way back to my early childhood. Because of developmental delays when I was young, I couldn’t process an ordinary conversation. But I was able to learn to speak by memorizing dialogue in “The Lion King” and other animated Disney movies. The work of those voice actors opened up the world of language to me.

When I was in high school, I discovered that memorizing Disney dialogue as a young child was great practice for learning my lines as an actor in a youth theater troupe here in Austin. I earned lead roles in productions such as “Beauty and the Beast”  — and I decided that acting would be my career path.

I went on to major in theater at St. Edward’s University in Austin, graduating with 3.8 GPA. Besides acting in college productions, I also got to build my writing skills. The kid who had language delays grew up to become a playwright whose work has been produced at the Transit Theatre New Works Festival.

And that brings us up to today. From a home studio I professionally outfitted myself, I serve clients all over the U.S. and beyond. As a way of giving back, I have worked as a reader for the blind, dyslexic, and anyone else with reading difficulties. In the future, I hope to work more in the animation field and to connect with children in the same way that the voice actors in Disney movies changed my life.
